Join us on a peer learning programme
As summer fades to be replaced by autumnal vibes, at least in the Northern Hemisphere where we write this blog, we are really excited to be launching a peer learning series. As promised at the start of the summer, you, our lovely Substack subscribers, are the first to hear about this project. If you’d like to be part of it, simply fill out the Expression of Interest form here: Expression of Interest. Come join us in the woods (ok, it’ll be a zoom link…)
This programme of peer learning is for people who:
either work in climate or migration justice, work in other spaces - from housing to health to education to democracy - but have climate or migration as a key part of their focus
are not already working deeply at the intersections between climate and migration justice
have scope for influence in their organisation’s work on climate and/or migration
are able and willing to commit to learning together over several months, and bringing colleagues to a sharing event in person in February.
We are inviting people to learn alongside us as we explore:
What does more cross-sector collaboration look like, and how can it catalyse more holistic, justice-oriented strategy and action?
How could more cross-sector collaboration improve the decisions we make, so that our work towards one kind of justice doesn’t perpetuate other injustices?
Why peer learning?
We want to build better individual and collective understanding of how climate and migration justice intersect, and for people working in these spaces to have more confidence to incorporate these combined justice-oriented perspectives into their work.
We aren’t qualified to do that through training - there are people out there who are doing brilliant work at these intersections (see our Substack!). Instead, we are coming at this as a group of collaborators who want to hold space for people to explore, question, and connect over the complexities of making sure that working towards one form of justice doesn’t hold back pursuit of another.
Theodora Cadbury, an experienced peer learning facilitator, will be holding the space for the duration of the programme - with input and guests who bring different kinds of expertise.
What will it look like?
This is a new offering that we are trialling, that we are able to offer for free thanks to funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. That means we can experiment and learn together, and see if this is something we might want to repeat.
For this pilot version, we will bring together up to 10 people for:
5 online peer learning sessions
1 in-person event, which participants will be asked to invite a colleague to share some of the learning more widely in their organisation
When will the sessions take place?
We have set aside the following days and times, however we are open to changing some of these if needed once we have gathered a cohort.
Tuesday mornings 10am - 12 noon, on Zoom:
21st Oct
18th Nov
9th Dec
13th Jan
24th March
In person event in London: w/c 23rd Feb (exact date tbc)
If you want to take part, but will have difficulty with any of the dates, please still get in touch.
If you're curious about how to bring these perspectives into your work, and perhaps spark collaboration across sectors, we hope you'll join us!
This is especially for practitioners working across sectors, where we’ll gather to learn together, creating connections and finding entry points into this space.
To express your interest, fill out the Expression of Interest form before 30th September: Expression of Interest
